Bauwerk Workshop – The Art of Parquet
Insights into wood character, formats, surface treatments and care for lasting quality
Format, Pattern & Proportion
The format, pattern and laying direction of parquet can noticeably influence how a room is perceived. Smaller formats offer flexibility in compact spaces, while larger planks can emphasise generous proportions; the laying direction and pattern can make a floor appear calm and continuous or give it a stronger architectural presence.

Wood Character & Grading
Every parquet plank is unique, with natural variations in grain, colour, knots and other characteristics of the wood. The grading determines how strongly these variations are visible, from a calm and uniform appearance to a lively or rustic floor with considerably more natural character.

Surface Makes the Difference
The same wood can look and perform very differently depending on its surface treatment. Natural oil emphasises the authentic character of the wood, while sealed surfaces provide a protective layer; B-Protect® combines the very matt appearance of untreated wood with the protection and easier care of a sealed surface.

Protection, Cleaning & Care
The condition of the surface shows when parquet needs more than regular cleaning. For natural-oiled parquet, a simple water-drop test can show when re-oiling is needed, while stubborn stains and small surface damage can often be treated locally instead of treating the entire floor.
